(by no means an exhaustive list, just things that occurred to me recently...)
- conjunctivitus = pink eye. Recently I threw that big word around a few times as if it was the equivalent of, say, tuberculosis or something. Nope. Pink eye.
- A rooster is a male chicken. A hen is a female chicken.
- Infections (like pneumonia) can have bacterial or viral causes. Still a little hazy on the specifics. Definitely should google that one. Very fortunately, haven't really needed to.

If it's a bacterial infection, antibiotics might help.
If it's a viral infection, antibiotics won't do jack, and you just have to wait the sucker out.
As I understand it, sometimes doctors give parents antibiotics for viral infections just to get the parents to stop bugging them because the parents are convinced the doctor is somehow holding out on them. I believe this is part of the growing antibiotic-resistant-bacteria problem.
Then there are anti-virals. I have a feeling these are kind of new but I'm not sure.
That's Dr. Marousis' medical opinion.
